1.1 Information Stored Locally on Your Device

The App saves learning progress and preferences on your device using local storage (SharedPreferences). This may include:

Words marked as known or unknown

Quiz answers and wrong-answer history

Scores, streaks, and words-learned counts

Completed CEFR levels

Daily learning goals and daily progress

Weekly learning history

Spaced repetition review schedules

Unlocked badges and badge progress

Personal notes you write about words

Theme preference (light, dark, or system)

Whether you have completed the onboarding card tutorial

This information is created by your use of the App and stays on your device unless you delete it or uninstall the App.

1.2 Information You Provide Voluntarily

You may optionally add personal notes to individual words. These notes are stored only on your device. We do not access, review, or upload them to our servers.

1.3 Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect:

Your name, email address, or phone number (no account is required)

Precise location data

Contacts, photos, or files from your device

Advertising identifiers for targeted advertising (the App does not show ads)

Analytics or usage tracking through third-party analytics services (none are currently integrated)

Information stored on your device is used only to:

Track your vocabulary learning progress

Show statistics, badges, streaks, and daily goals

Schedule word reviews through spaced repetition

Remember your app settings and preferences

Improve your learning experience within the App

We do not sell your personal information.

3.1 Oxford Learners Dictionaries (Audio Pronunciation)

When you tap the play button on a word card, the App requests and streams pronunciation audio from Oxford Learners Dictionaries (oxfordlearnersdictionaries.com). This requires an internet connection.

We do not control Oxford University Press or its websites. When audio is played, your device connects directly to their servers. Their own privacy policy and terms may apply to that connection.

We do not send your identity, learning history, or personal notes to Oxford when audio is requested.

3.2 Word Content

Word definitions, examples, phonetics, and audio URLs in the App are based on Oxford Learner's Dictionary data bundled or referenced within the App. This content is used for educational purposes.

We do not share, sell, rent, or trade your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Your learning data is not transmitted to our servers because we do not operate backend servers for user data storage at this time.

The only external network activity initiated by the App is audio streaming from Oxford when you choose to play pronunciation.

Your data remains on your device until you:

Use "Reset Statistics" in the Statistics screen

Use "Delete All Words" in the Words settings

Clear the App's data in your device settings

Uninstall the App

Uninstalling the App removes locally stored data from your device.

The App is intended for general audiences and educational use. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the applicable age in your country) through account registration, because no account is required.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will take steps to delete such information.

Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing.

Because data is stored locally on your device, you can delete your data at any time using the in-app reset and delete options, or by uninstalling the App.

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or similar jurisdictions, you may have additional rights under GDPR or local law. Contact us using the details below to exercise your rights.

We use reasonable measures to protect information stored within the App. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure. Data stored locally is protected by your device's operating system security.

The App may be used internationally. If you use the App outside your home country, your device's local data remains on your device. Audio requests may be processed by servers operated by Oxford University Press in jurisdictions they choose.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
